| | One Day (6 hour Paediatric) First Aid Course provides the most up to date and essential First Aid information for nannies, whilst also meeting all the requirements for the OFSTED Voluntary Register.
This course is suitable for Nannies, Au Pairs, Babysitters, Parents and Child Carers wishing to join the Voluntary part of the OFSTED Childcare Register (OCR) and is designed to meet the guidelines laid down by Sure Start for anyone wishing to register with the Childcare Approval Scheme for nannies working in the home. The course is designed for Child Carers who work with young children and require the necessary knowledge to cope with an emergency and be able to recognise and respond to the emergency needs of a child with chronic medical conditions or who have injured themselves. The course is also ideal for babysitters, parents and grandparents. |

| | David Fitzmaurice is a GP and Professor of Primary Care at the University of Birmingham, UK. He was a founder member of the ISU and continues to provide input into both development of course materials and direct teaching. His primary research interest lies in cardiovascular disease, in particular oral anticoagulation management. He is a board member of the Society for Academic Primary Care (SAPC), the Primary Care Cardiovascular Society (PCCS), for which he chairs the Anticoagulation Working Group, the RCGP research committee, sits on the editorial board of the British Medical Journal, is a member of the Advisory Group of the UK Medical Research Council, and was formerly the primary care editor for the PROMOAT website. He has published extensively in the field of primary care cardiovascular research and was co-author of the UK self-management for oral anticoagulation guidelines. |

Overview
Work-related violence is on the rise and yet employers have a duty of care to provide a safe place of work. This is not easy in environments where the potential for conflict and aggression is high. Zero tolerance initiatives and commitment to prosecution have brought improvements in organisations like the NHS, London Underground and many pubs and clubs that now work together to monitor and bar known troublemakers. Yet high staff turnover and a lack of training mean many people are still vulnerable to physical and psychological damage. The costs to businesses can be very high indeed.
The CIEH has developed this qualification to help organisations protect their staff as well as their organisational and operational effectiveness.
